Ramen is a Japanese noodle dish that has gained popularity worldwide. The dish consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat or fish-based broth, with various toppings such as sliced pork, dried seaweed, and green onions. The origin of ramen can be traced back to China, where wheat noodles were consumed with hot broth as early as the Tang dynasty (618-907). These noodles eventually made their way to Japan, and the first ramen shop in Japan opened in Yokohama in 1910.
Ramen gained widespread popularity in Japan after World War II when food shortages led to a rise in noodle consumption. It was also during this time that ramen began to take on its own distinct style in Japan, with different regions developing their own unique variations. For example, Tokyo-style ramen is known for its clear broth, while Hokkaido-style ramen has a rich and creamy broth.

In recent years, ramen has become a global phenomenon, with ramen shops popping up all over the world. The dish has also inspired various spin-offs, such as instant ramen, which was invented by Momofuku Ando in 1958. Instant ramen has become a staple for students and busy people everywhere, and there are now countless brands and flavors available.
Aside from its delicious taste and convenience, ramen is also a fascinating subject for foodies. Ramen has even spawned its own subculture, with ramen enthusiasts known as "ramen otaku" or "ramen nerds." These enthusiasts travel around Japan and the world in search of the perfect bowl of ramen, and they even have their own rating system for judging different ramen shops
